Overview - BASIC READING PEN
Motivate and support independent readers with this assistive reading device that fits in a pocket and has an intuitive, friendly interface. Pen uses a unique technology that scans, defines, translates and pronounces words from any printed material. Like the original Reading Pen Advanced Edition, the Reading Pen Basic Edition K-12 improves reading skills for all learners as it maintains the flow of reading when students encounter unfamiliar words. The pen pronounces and displays words, displays and reads definitions and synonyms, shows syllabication, and spells words by highlighting letters. This portable device has a built-in tutorial and can be used anywhere to discreetly provide immediate word support. The battery-operated pen recognizes over 250,000 words and includes K-12 grade level dictionaries and English-Spanish translation.
How It Works Students glide the pen's optical scanner over a word or a full line of text and the words are read aloud. Many words also have thesaurus entries that can be easily accessed. Adjusts for left- or right-handed users and features automatic shutoff and display contrast control for easy viewing. Includes Reading Pen Basic Edition K-12 includes user's manual, quick start guide, earphone, carrying case, 2 AAA batteries, and attachable helper guide.
